REBELS SWEEP HOME DUAL MEET
The Rebels Girls and Boys cross country teams hosted their 2nd meet of the season on Wednesday (Sept. 9) and scored two wins over United. Unlike the first meet, when the course was shortened due to high temperatures, this meet ran the full 2.75 mile course. In the Girls race, the Rebels topped United 24-33. Although United had the overall individual winner in Bridget Brokaw (19:44), Stark County won with its depth. With two of their top runners still out with injuries, Alyssa Dyken (2nd - 20:13) was the first Rebel in for the second straight week. Lena Becker (3rd - 20:32) after missing last week was next for the Girls. Rounding out the scoring for the Girls were Riley Menssen (5th - 22:30), Trinity Shimmin (6th - 22:34) and Kimora Barnwell (8th - 24:50) running in her very first XC race. McKenzie Stahl (9th - 25:06) also finished for the Girls. Caden Daum (2nd - 17:33) held the lead in the Boys race for two miles but was passed by United's Zair Velazquez (17:15). The other Stark County Boys finishers were Payton Stahl (3rd - 17:48), Alex Welch (4th - 17:53), Jack Winans (6th - 9:14) and Colby Carroll (7th - 19:28). The Boys posted a perfect 15 score as United didn't have the required five runners for a team score.
